Seven trotting events, on the 2,140m distance, and two flat races for ponies, on the shorter 750m and 800m, made up the card of the seventh meeting of the season at Marsa yesterday.
In the Premier class race, there was quite an exciting finish that involved four trotters, all dashing closely together towards the finishing line. The post was reached first by Hudson Blue, with James Briffa at the helm.
Hudson Blue was closely followed in second place by Kamis de l'Eveche. Staro Tonic had to settle for third.
Solid V.G., directed by Brian Zammit, shot into the lead midway through the distance of the Gold class race yesterday. It went on to finish a strong winner, followed home by Syllabub and Kanter Speed.
In the first Silver race of the afternoon, Falco, controlled by George Attard, met no trouble to cross the finishing line first by three lengths after leading all the way. King De Bourdenay looked set to win the other Silver class event but was pipped to the post by a dashing Kalifant De Jemm, controlled by David Ellul.
The next meeting at the Marsa racetrack is scheduled for Sunday. First race start at 1.30 p.m.
